history
The first traces of human settlement are about 4,000 years old catacomb graves . Isolated finds in the municipality can be assigned to the Árpáden , they are dated to the period between the 10th and 11th centuries. The first written mention comes from the year 1351, at that time still listed under Ladan.
In 1941 there were 552 Jews in Püspökladány, that is about 4% of the population. These were ghettoized in May 1944 and deported to German concentration camps via the ghetto in Debrecen .
