BC and 2500 BC The first written mention comes from the year 1215 in the Váradi Regestrum , the name of the village was Rábé already at that time . Based on local traditions, the first Nagyrábé was founded on the island of the Berettyó River . The first written mention of the village comes from 1332, the place already had a church and a pastor at that time.

The village belonged to the Rábéi family for a long time, and later to István Werbőczy for a short time . The Bajoni family ruled the village in the 16th century .

Rábé and his church were destroyed twice by the Ottomans , but the village was rebuilt. In 1660 the place was devastated by the Ottoman forces during a punitive expedition against George II Rákóczi .

In 1938 the number of residents was 3,334, 736 of whom lived on individual farms. The individual farms have now disappeared. Nagyrábé had almost 3,000 inhabitants in 1970, compared to 2,136 on January 1, 2015.
