Balatonboglár has a small port and a train station. The city is geared towards tourism and lies on the flat shore of the lake. In addition to a meadow beach with beach volleyball fields and a mini golf course with twelve holes, there is also a pedal boat rental.

history

The region around Lake Balaton has been populated for around 6000 years. Balatonboglár was first mentioned in a document in 1211. Since the end of the 19th century, the place has developed into one of the largest holiday centers on Lake Balaton, and so the first bathing club was founded in Balatonboglár in 1904. In 1912 the city was chosen as a spa . Around this time the new port was built, which is now one of the largest sailing boat harbors on Lake Balaton.

In 1978 Boglár merged with Lelle to Boglárlelle, but separated again in 1991.

The Catholic Church, built in 1932, forms the center of the city. The oldest preserved architectural monument is the classicist mansion (Szabadsag utca 14) built in 1835, today it forms the center of the state winery.

Since 1987 the place has been the international city of wine and grapes. BB - Balatonboglári Borgazdasagi Rt. Is the largest wine-growing company in the South Balaton region.
