Sárbogárd (German: Bochart ) is a town with about 12,600 inhabitants in the small area of the same name Sárbogárd , whose administrative seat it is, in Hungary . It is located in Fejér County at an altitude of about 131 meters above sea level in the Pannonian Plain .

About 35 kilometers to the west, the north-eastern shore of extending Balaton and about 24 kilometers east of Sárbogárd runs steeply towards the south from the north-flowing Danube .

An early settlement is confirmed by graves from the late Bronze Age with finds a. a. a late Avar period saber in the barrow (Bockel) in Sárbogárd (1956 excavation by A.Kralovànsky) Finds in the museum in Székesfehérvár.

Today the name of the city is generally traced back to a combination of the name of the district Sár szentmiklós and the name of a nobleman István Bogárdi mentioned in a document from 1323 , after whom the northern part of the city is probably named. The canal, which flows about five kilometers east of Sárbogárd in a north-south direction almost parallel to the main street Sárbogárds, bears the name Sárvíz .
