It comprises 47 municipalities in the Arrondissement of Troyes and has its bureau centralisateur in Arcis-sur-Aube . As part of the nationwide reorganization of the French cantons, it was significantly expanded in spring 2015.

To nationwide reorganization of the French cantons in March 2015 Canton Arcis-sur-Aube were among the 22 municipalities Allibaudières , Arcis-sur-Aube , Aubeterre , Champigny-sur-Aube , Charmont-sous-Barbuise , Feuges , Herbisse , Le Chêne , Mailly-le-Camp , Montsuzain , Nozay , Ormes , Poivres , Pouan-les-Vallées , Saint-Remy-sous-Barbuise , Saint-Étienne-sous-Barbuise , Semoine , Torcy-le-Grand , Torcy-le-Petit , Villette-sur-Aube , Villiers-Herbisse and Voué . Its layout corresponded to an area of ​​402.45 km ² . The old INSEE code 1002 was retained.
