List of highways in Croatia
This list of motorways in Croatia gives an overview of the motorway network in Croatia . It is one of the fastest growing in Europe. The current total length of all motorways ( Croatian : Autoceste ; singular Autocesta ) is 1270.2 km. In addition, 185.6 kilometers of motorway are under construction. The planned motorway network is to be 1670.5 km long.
The network operators are the state operating companies Hrvatske autoceste (HAC) and Autocesta Rijeka-Zagreb (ARZ) , as well as two private companies: Autocesta Zagreb-Macelj (AZM) and Bina-Istra . In 2012 the Croatian government announced that it wanted to privatize the two state operators by granting concessions. With a few exceptions, fees are charged, also for the Krk bridge .
With the exception of the Učka tunnel on the A8 and the tunnels on the A2 motorway, all motorway tunnels in Croatia are equipped with two tubes. They are among the safest in Europe.
