  • The Autocesta A7 ( Croatian for 'Autobahn A7'), also called Kvarnerska autocesta , is a planned and partly already constructed motorway in the west of Croatia . This route will be around 103.5 kilometers long and will run from Rupa on the Slovenian border via Rijeka to Žuta Lokva , where it meets the Autocesta A1 .

The stretch from the Slovenian border to the Bay of Bakar near Rijeka was completed in 2005. A motorway connection to the Slovenian A1 does not yet exist and has not yet been specified by the Slovenian side. On December 22nd, 2009, the Rijeka bypass was opened to traffic and the A7 was connected to the Autocesta A6 . A more extensive bypass of Rijeka between Jušići and Križišče is planned, which will become part of the A7 after completion. The current bypass of Rijeka will then no longer be part of the A7.

On December 23, 2013, another section of the A7 was completed by bypassing the Bay of Bakar . The A7 was extended from Bakar in Sveti Kuzam to the junction for the Krk Bridge at Križišče . On July 16, 2013, the section was opened early for traffic towards Križišče. The complete traffic handover was postponed from the beginning of November to the end of December and finally took place on December 23rd. The construction costs amounted to 957 million kuna (corresponds to approx. 125 million euros).

An extension of the Autocesta A7 to Žuta Lokva is planned in three construction phases. These are the construction sections Križišče − Novi Vinodolski (25 km), Novi Vinodolski − Senj (16 km) and Senj − Žuta Lokva (15 km). The latter section is considered to be the most technically demanding.

The motorway is owned by the motorway companies Hrvatske autoceste doo (HAC) and Autocesta Rijeka-Zagreb dd (ARZ) and is partly toll road .
