Selce is a popular holiday resort in the Kvarner Bay directly on the Croatian Adriatic coast. It joins the city of Crikvenica . Selce is located about 37 km southeast of Rijeka . Neighboring places are next to Crikvenca Kraljevica and Novi Vinodolski .
history
Selce was created on the site of the Roman post "Ad turres" and developed as a port with storage rooms for wine and salt as well as a customs office. In 1886 the church of St. Catherine was built, which has late historical features.
tourism
Selce looks back on a hundred year tradition of tourism. The first seaside resort was opened as early as 1894, making this year the beginning of tourism in Selce. The first hotels, guest houses and villas appeared at the beginning of the 20th century, including the Art Nouveau hotel "Esperanto" , which still exists today and was completely renovated at the turn of the millennium. Today the former fishing and port town of Selce lives almost exclusively from tourism, which is supported by the year-round mild climate, good road connections and the proximity to Rijeka Airport on Krk . There are currently five larger hotels and numerous private holiday apartments.
Due to the excellent quality of the sea water, the beaches in Selce are awarded the international blue flag every year .
Sport and wellness
Selce is the renowned diving club Mihuric , the year-round diving excursions and training offers. The fishing club Oslic preserves the fishing tradition and organizes events related to fishing. In summer there are also numerous opportunities for water skiing, windsurfing, paragliding and cycling.
The Polyclinic Terme Selce has a good national reputation for rehabilitation of sports injuries. Numerous internationally known athletes have already been treated there.
