Lekenik is a Croatian Village with 6,032 inhabitants (2011) in the County of Sisak-Moslavina .
Geographical location
Lekenik lies in the triangle of the Turopolje , Vukomeričke gorice and Sisak - Petrinja regions , 21 km southeast of Velika Gorica , 101 m above sea level. d. M.
Two km to the east is the small hamlet Lekenička Poljana (278 inhabitants), which offers the restored wooden chapel "Heiliggeist" from the 18th century as a sight .

The place is located directly on the main road between the capital Zagreb and the industrial city of Sisak .
Lekenik is also connected to the railway line between Zagreb and Sisak.
In addition, the construction of the A11 motorway, which will link Zagreb with Sisak, has already started. Lekenik will then have its own junction, which should be completed by the end of 2008 (see Infrastructure, Transport and Telecommunications in Croatia ).

Lekenik is the seat of an international SOS Children's Village .
In particular, the place and its rural surroundings are known for many well-preserved wooden farmhouses that are decorated with characteristic details and carvings.
Lekenik is also popular with anglers, as the place offers an untouched paradise of nature through numerous nearby rivers.
