Lipovac (German: Lipowatz ) is a place in eastern Croatia on the border with Serbia , south of the Bosut River , in the Slavonia region .
Lipovac is located near the mouth of the Spaeva River and the Bosut River, 24 km southeast of Zupanja and 7 km west of the state border with Serbia. Administratively, the place belongs to the municipality Nijemci in the Vukovar-Syrmia County (Croat. Vukovarsko-srijemska županija ). Lipovac has 1,243 inhabitants (2001 census).
Specialty
The Croatian A3 motorway ( Posavska autocesta ) ends in Lipovac . During the Croatian war the place was occupied by Serbian troops. After the country gained independence , all of the A3 motorway signs heading east, which had previously indicated Beograd ( Belgrade ), were replaced by Lipovac , which helped the place to become very well known in Croatia. In the meantime, Slavonski Brod , Županja , Osijek and Belgrade are increasingly mentioned, but Lipovac is also mentioned on the signs.

The Lukaskirche , a single-nave Gothic church from the beginning of the 14th century, was renovated in 1897. At first the church had a vault, of which two Gothic corbels next to the singing choir testify. The church is a brick building with a moat. It has a wooden tower and a polygonal end of the choir supported by buttresses.
In the vicinity of Lipovac there are also hiking and hunting opportunities in the Spaeva forest, one of the largest preserved holm oak forests in Europe. Fishing is possible at the nearby Spaeva and Bosut.
