The European route 136 (abbreviation: E136 ) is a European route of the intermediate network ( category B ) in Norway. It connects the port city of Ålesund with Dombås on European route 6 .
course
The road forms the main connection between Fylker Innlandet and Møre og Romsdal . It runs from Dombås in Dovre municipality parallel to the Rauma Railway in the Lågen valley to the watershed and then further down the Rauma valley , which reaches the Romsdalsfjord at Åndalsnes . It follows the south bank of the Romsdalsfjord and joins at Brastad around 7 km south of Vestnes with the European route 39 , with which it runs to the island Aspøy in the center of Ålesund .
expansion
The street has a standard width of seven to eight meters. The eastern exit of Ålesund has been developed as a dual carriageway. In other places, the speed is limited to 60 or 70 km / h, as there are accident accumulation points or there are buildings nearby. The 1,290 meter long Tresfjord Bridge (Norwegian: Tresfjordbrua) over the Tresfjord near Vikebukt , opened in October 2015, shortened the previous journey between Ålesund and Åndalsnes by around thirteen kilometers. This is followed by a tunnel opened in December 2014, the Vågstrand tunnel, 3.67 km in length. The road still has several tunnels, the longest of which is 6.6 km.
history
The connection between Vestlandet and Østlandet was open to traffic as early as 1850. The street was formerly known as Europastraße 69, then as Reichsstraße 9. Since 2000 it (alone) has been given the current European street designation.
