The Romsdalsfjord with Molde, view from Varden |
The Romsdalsfjord is a fjord in the Romsdal area in the Møre og Romsdal province in Norway .
The fjord is 94 km long and stretches from the area around the island of Tautra in front of the Tomrefjord to the south to the island of Otrøya , past Julsund and Tresfjord .
To the west of Molde , the Moldefjord branch branches off between the Romsdalshalvøya peninsula and the islands of the Molde archipelago south of Molde. The Moldefjord merges into the Fannefjord in the east between the Skålahalvøya and the Romsdalshalvøya east of Årø . The main arm of the Romsdalsfjord runs on the south side of the island of Sekken to Åndalsnes , but a longer branch, the Langfjord , runs to Eidsvåg and Eresfjord to the northeast.
