Romsdal is a 60 km long mountain valley through which the Rauma flows and a landscape in the Fylke Møre og Romsdal in western Norway .

Romsdal is located between Nordmøre in the north and Sunnmøre in the south. Romsdal consists of the municipalities of Aukra , Midsund , Fræna , Molde , Rauma , Nesset , Vestnes and Sandøy . The main town is Molde. Romsdal extends over an area of ​​3807 km². A total of 57,377 inhabitants live in this region (as of July 1, 2009). In Romsdal rise from the valley floor, which is only 30 to 65 m above sea level, including the mountains Romsdalshorn (1550 m high), Trolltindene (up to 1797 m) and Store Venjetinden (1852 m), which narrow the valley into a gorge . The valley continues in the Romsdalsfjord .
