The 2010/11 season is the 18th regular event of the highest Slovak ice hockey league, the Slovnaft Extraliga . The reigning champion is HC Košice , who defeated HK ŠKP Poprad in the playoff final with 4-1 wins in the best-of-seven series. With this, the club managed to win the third title in a row and is also the first Extraliga participant to do so. In addition, the U18 and U20 juniors of HC Košice won the respective junior championship titles.

Since the MsHK Žilina prevailed in the relegation against the champions of the first division , the ŠHK 37 Piešťany , with 4-0 wins, there was no promoted.

Compared to the previous season, the league was reduced from 13 to eleven teams, with the Slovak U20 national team playing as HK Orange 20 again out of valuation.

Regular season

The preliminary round was clearly dominated by HC Košice . He showed outstanding performance both offensively and defensively, so that at the end of the season he scored the most goals (217) and received the fewest goals against (102) and had a positive goal difference of +115. In addition, Košice only lost nine of his 57 games and at the end of the preliminary round had a lead of 26 points in second place.

Relegation

In the league delegation between the extra league and the first division, the penultimate MsHK Žilina met the champions of the first division, the ŠHK 37 Piešťany , as in the previous year . The former prevailed against the team from Piešťany and thus achieved relegation in the extra league, while Piešťany remained second class.
