history
The association was founded in 1927 as ZTK Zvolen . In 1970 he rose to the second highest division in Czechoslovakia, the 1st SNHL . In the 1970s, the club under the name Lokomotíva Bučina Zvolen (LB Zvolen) was four times champions of this league (1973, 1975, 1976 and 1978), but never made it to the top division of Czechoslovakia. When the Slovak extra league was created in 1993, the HKm was included in this new league. However, in the 1993/94 season, the club only finished in last (tenth) place and was relegated to the first division . Two years later, the club was able to celebrate the championship of this second division and rose again to the extra league.
In the 1999/2000 season, the HKm Zvolen reached the runner-up in Slovakia when the team from Zvolen failed 3-2 in the playoff final at HC Slovan Bratislava . A year later, the HKm was back in the final and beat HC Dukla Trenčín 3-1. With this, the HKm Zvolen won his first Slovak championship title and achieved the greatest success in the club's history. In the following years the club established itself in the top group of the Extraliga and took part in the IIHF Continental Cup in 2004/05 . In the final round of this tournament, the HKm won against HC Milano Vipers and Alba Volán Székesfehérvár from Hungary, as well as against HK Dynamo Moscow . The club thus secured the first international title in the club's history. In 2013 the club won its second championship.
