Ján Laco (born December 1, 1981 in Liptovský Mikuláš , Czechoslovakia ) is a Slovak ice hockey goalkeeper who has been under contract with Piráti Chomutov since May 2016 .

Career

Ján Laco began his career as a hockey player in his hometown in the youth department of the MHk 32 Liptovský Mikuláš , for whose professional team he was active in the extra league from 2000 to 2005 . After the goalkeeper had worked out a regular place there in the 2004/05 season , he moved towards the end of the season to the Slovak top club HC Košice , where he showed constant performance in the following two years. Nevertheless, he returned to his home club MHk 32 Liptovský Mikuláš for the 2007/08 season .

From 2008 to 2010 Laco stood between the posts at HKm Zvolen and was one of the best goalkeepers in the entire Extraliga with a goal against goals of 2.39 and 2.63 in the main round. In Zvolen the Slovak could recommend himself for a trial contract with the newly founded HC Lev Poprad from the continental hockey league . Since HC Lev did not start playing, Laco switched to HK Nitra , where he acted as a back-up for Michal Fikrt . In July 2011 Laco moved to HC Lev for the second time. In 2012, however, he went to HK Donbass Donetsk and completed a total of 46 KHL games for the club in the following two playing years. Due to the Ukraine crisis, he withdrew from the game in the summer of 2014 and Ján Laco followed his coach Andrei Nasarow to Barys Astana .
