Marcel Šterbák (born August 18, 1980 in Košice , Czechoslovakia ) is a former Slovak ice hockey player who was Slovak champion twice in his career with HC Košice .

Career

Marcel Šterbák began his career as an ice hockey player in his hometown at TJ VSŽ Košice , in whose junior division he was active until 1998. Then the defender moved to HK VTJ Spišská Nová Ves , for whose professional team he made his debut in the Slovakian extra league in the playoffs of the 1998/99 season . After two years he returned in 2000 to his ex-club, now renamed HC Košice, for which he was on the ice for the following five seasons in the extra league. During this period he was defeated in the 2002/03 season with his team in the playoff final of HC Slovan Bratislava . The right-handed shooter spent much of the 2003/04 season at Košice's league rivals MHC Martin .

Towards the end of the 2004/05 season , Šterbák signed with the MHk 32 Liptovský Mikuláš , for which he was active for a little more than a year before he was committed again in the summer of 2006 by HC Košice. With the top club he failed again in the playoff final at HC Slovan Bratislava in 2008, before he and his team won the Slovak championship for the first time in the 2008/09 season . Then the Slovak received a contract for the 2009/10 season with BK Mladá Boleslav from the Czech extra league .

In May 2010 he returned to his home club and won the championship title of the 2010/11 season with it . For the following season he moved within the Slovak Extra League to HK Poprad . In the summer of 2013 he switched to the Italian Serie A1, where he was initially obliged by WSV Sterzing , but did not play a game for the WSV, but moved to MsHK Žilina in September 2013 .

He was then under contract with HK Dukla Michalovce and the Diables Rouges de Briançon before ending his career in 2017.
