Fræna

Fræna was a municipality in the Norwegian province ( Fylke ) Møre og Romsdal . It was created in 1960 from the merger of the former municipalities of Bud, Fræna and Hustad. The administrative seat of the municipality was Elnesvågen. As part of the local government reform in Norway , Fræna and Eide were merged to form Hustadvika on January 1, 2020 .

9800 inhabitants lived on an area of ​​369 km² (as of January 1, 2019). The commune number was 1548.

Neighboring communes to Fræna were (clockwise) Eide, Gjemnes , Molde and Aukra .

In addition to the main town Elnesvågen, Fræna also included Bud , Tornes, Malme, Bergseth, Sylte and Nerland as well as several villages with less than 200 inhabitants.

Economy and Transport

Fræna was an important agricultural area . There is also a factory in Elnesvågen for calcium products for paper production and Norway's largest factory for Jarlsberg cheese .

Reichsstraße 64 connects Fræna with Molde.
