Hustadvika is a municipality in Fylke Møre og Romsdal , Norway , which has existed since January 1, 2020. It consists of the former municipalities of Eide and Fræna and has 13,279 inhabitants (as of February 27, 2020). The administrative seat is in Elnesvågen .

geography

The municipality borders on the north-west of the Atlantic on a stretch of coast with the same name . The municipality was named after this section.

The eastern part of Hustadvika consists of mountainous terrain with elevations from 600 to 1000 meters above sea level. The highest point is the Snøtinden with a height of 1026.5  moh.

The municipality borders Molde to the south, Gjemnes to the southeast , Aukra to the west and Averøy to the east when viewed across the fjord .

coat of arms

The coat of arms bears the name "Plogen og fisken", which means "The plow and the fish". It symbolizes two important industries in the municipality: agriculture and fishing. The coat of arms shows a stylized fish and plow in silver on a blue background. It has a simple, stylistic and modern expression and was designed by the artist Madlen Behrendt together with the poet Øystein Hauge.
