Storm in the Hustadvika

The Hustadvika is a 10 nautical miles (19 km) long stretch of the Norwegian coast in front of the municipality of Hustadvika in Romsdal , which has taken its name. The ship route between Molde and Kristiansund runs through the Hustadvika. The area is shallow and has numerous islets and reefs . The Hustadvika includes the waters off Bud and Bjørnsund in the southwest and Hustad and Kvitholmen in the northeast.

Numerous ship accidents have occurred in the Hustadvika, one of the most dangerous stretches of the Norwegian coast .

In 2019, the cruise ship Viking Sky and the cargo ship Hagland Captain had to be evacuated or rescued with tugs due to machine damage and stormy seas.
