The Hagland Captain is a coaster of the Norwegian shipping company Hagland Shipping.

history

The ship was built under hull number 199 at the Indian shipyard Chowgule & Company. It was appointed on January 8, 2008. The keel was laid on November 11, 2008, the launch on August 2, 2011. The ship was completed on June 25, 2012. It is one of several ships based on a joint design by the Dutch naval architecture firm Conoship International.

The ship was originally intended to be built for the Dutch Flinter Groep . The intended name was Flinterzijl . At the end of 2011, JR Shipping took over the construction contract. The ship should now start sailing as Maratha Chintan . JR Shipping chartered the ship to the Norwegian shipping company Hagland Shipping before it was completed.

The ship entered service as Hagland Captain in 2012 . The home port of the ship operated under the flag of the Netherlands was Harlingen . After five years, Hagland Shipping bought the ship and brought it under the flag of Norway. The ship's home port was Haugesund .

On March 23, 2019, the ship suffered an engine failure while attempting to evacuate the Viking Sky, which was in distress , and had to use emergency anchorage. Two of the rescue helicopters that were on their way to Viking Sky were then diverted to the Hagland Captain and evacuated the nine crew members of this ship. The Hagland Captain was on her way to Skogn on the Trondheimfjord with a cargo of wood for a paper mill of the Norwegian group Norske Skog .

On the morning of March 25, 2019, the Hagland Captain was towed from her anchor position to a shipyard on Averøy , where the ship was being repaired. It has been back in motion since the beginning of April 2019.

In front of it is a 62.25 meter long, 11.70 meter wide and 8.12 meter high cargo area . The volume is 5720 m³. The cargo area is box-shaped over a length of 50.40 meters.
