The European route 847 is an Italian European route that leads from Sicignano degli Alburni via Potenza to Metaponto on the Gulf of Taranto from west to east. It has a length of 154 km and runs in the regions of Campania and Basilicata .

The start of the European route is at the junction of the RA 5 from the A3 motorway (also E45 ) at Sicigniano degli Alburni. The E 847 follows the RA 5 in an easterly direction past Buccino , Balvano and Picerno to Potenza. In the urban area of ​​Potenza, the course follows almost parallel to the Basento . The connection to the Via Appia marks the transition from the Raccordo autostradale to the Strada Statale 407 Basentana . At Tricarico the road crosses the provincial border from the province of Potenza to the province of Matera . A few kilometers further at Calciano , the lane narrows: the road is no longer developed like a motorway. Northwest of Metaponto (still the municipality of Bernalda ), the E 847 then reaches the state road 106 (also E 90 ) and ends there.
