The road runs in a west-east direction starting from Saint-Brieuc, initially together with the European route 50 as part of the two-lane route nationale 12 via Lamballe , until it branches off at Tramain from the RN 12 as route national 176, which is also developed with separate lanes . This leads north-west past Dinan , crosses the Rance river south of Dinard and Saint-Malo , crosses route départementale 137, which runs in north-south direction, at Châteauneuf-d'Ille-et-Vilaine , continues east via Dol-de -Brittany away. She leaves at Pontorson the Brittany and enters the Normandy one. It continues as Route nationale 175 , reaches the Autoroute A84 ( Europastraße 3 ) south of Avranches . With this it is led in a north-easterly direction via Villedieu-les-Poêles and also after the northern junction of the E 03 on it. Via Villers-Bocage it runs to Caen, where after reaching the ring road Route nationale 814 ends at the European route 46 ( Route nationale 13 ).
