The European route 840 is a 94 kilometer (without sea route) long European route of the intermediate network, which, running from west to east, connects Sassari in the Italian region of Sardinia with Civitavecchia in the Italian region of Lazio .

course

The European route separates around twelve kilometers southeast of Sassari from the European route 25 (Strada Statale 131 Carlo Felice) and follows the Strada Statale 597 di Logudoro , bypassing Ploaghe to the south and Monti to the north. It finally reaches Olbia on the east coast of Sardinia, where it meets the Strada Statale 125 Orientale Sarda . The ferry connection from Olbia to Civitavecchia is included in the European route. On the mainland, a nine-kilometer section of Strada Statale 1 Via Aurelia connects the port of Civitavecchia with the end of the A12 autostrada coming from Rome , which continues to the north as Strada Statale 1.
