Amphoe Cha-uat ( Thai : อำเภอ ชะอวด ) is a district ( Amphoe - administrative district) in the south of the province of Nakhon Si Thammarat . The province of Nakhon Si Thammarat is located in the southern region of Thailand , about 780 km south of Bangkok on the east coast of the Malay Peninsula to the Gulf of Thailand .

The province of Nakhon Si Thammarat is located about 780 kilometers south of Bangkok on the east coast of the Malay Peninsula on the Gulf of Thailand .

Adjacent areas (from the west in the clockwise) Amphoe Thung Song , Chulabhorn , Ron Phibun , Chaloem Phra Kiat , Chian Yai and Hua Sai in Nakhon Si Thammarat Province, Amphoe Ranot the province Songkhla , the Amphoe Khuan Khanun and Pa Phayom the Phatthalung Province and Huai Yot District in Trang Province .

The Khao Pu - Khao Ya National Park is located in the Nakhon Si Thammarat Mountains on the border of the Phatthalung and Trang provinces.

history

Cha-uat was initially established as a subdistrict ( King Amphoe ) in 1923 by separating it from the Ron Phibun district . On January 1, 1953, Cha-uat was promoted to Amphoe.

Local administration

There are two small towns ( Thesaban Tambon ) in the county:

  • Cha-uat ( เทศบาล ตำบล ชะอวด ) consists of parts of the Tambon Cha-uat and Tha Pracha.
  • Tha Pracha ( เทศบาล ตำบล ท่า ประ จะ ) consists of further parts of the Tambon Tha Pracha.

There are also ten "Tambon Administration Organizations" (TAO, องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล ) for the Tambon or the parts of Tambon in the county that do not belong to any town.
