Amphoe Phipun ( Thai : อำเภอ พิปูน ) is a district ( Amphoe - administrative district) in the north of the province of Nakhon Si Thammarat . The province of Nakhon Si Thammarat is located in the southern region of Thailand , about 780 km south of Bangkok on the east coast of the Malay Peninsula to the Gulf of Thailand .

Neighboring districts (clockwise from northeast): Amphoe Nopphitam , Phrom Khiri , Lan Saka and Chawang in Nakhon Si Thammarat Province and Amphoe Wiang Sa and Ban Na San in Surat Thani Province .

history

Amphoe Phipun was initially set up as a subdistrict ( King Amphoe ) on September 1, 1972 by separating the two tambon Phipun and Kathun from Amphoe Chawang . On September 8, 1976, Phipun was promoted to Amphoe.

Local administration

There are four small towns ( Thesaban Tambon ) in the county:

  • Phipun ( เทศบาล ตำบล พิปูน ) consists of parts of the Tambon Phipun.
  • Khao Phra ( เทศบาล ตำบล เขา พระ ) consists of the whole tambon Khao Phra.
  • Khuan Klang ( เทศบาล ตำบล ควน กลาง ) consists of the whole Tambon Khuan Klang.
  • Kathun ( เทศบาล ตำบล กะ ทูน ) consists of the whole tambon Kathun.

There are also two “tambon administrative organizations” (TAO, องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล ) for the tambon or the parts of tambon in the county that do not belong to any town.
