Amphoe Thung Song ( Thai : อำเภอ ทุ่งสง ) is a county ( amphoe - administrative district) in the province of Nakhon Si Thammarat . The province of Nakhon Si Thammarat is located in the southern region of Thailand , about 780 km south of Bangkok on the east coast of the Malay Peninsula to the Gulf of Thailand .

Amphoe Thung Song is located in the southwest of the province. Neighboring districts (from west clockwise): Amphoe Bang Khan , Thung Yai , Na Bon , Chang sound , Lan Saka , Ron Phibun , Chulabhorn and Cha-uat of Nakhon Si Thammarat and Amphoe Huai Yot and Ratsada of Trang province .

• Route network of the SRT ( State Railway of Thailand ):
  • Amphoe Thung Song crosses the southern runway , which runs from Bangkok in two branches to the border crossings Padang Besar and Sungai Kolok to Malaysia.
  • From the Thung Song Junction station (" Thung Song junction "), the branch line to Katang branches off from the southern line . The rarely used railway line leads via Trang to Kantang in the Amphoe Kantang ( Trang province ) directly at the confluence of the Khlong Trang in the Andaman Sea .

Attractions

There are several national parks in the Thung Song district:

• The Namtok Yong National Park ( อุทยานแห่งชาติ น้ำตก โยง ) with around twelve waterfalls and spectacular viewpoints, such as the 1350 m high Yod Khao Men ( ยอด เขา เหม น ).
• The Khao Nan National Park ( อุทยานแห่งชาติ เขา นั น ) is 436 km², at 1438 m, the Khao Nan Yai is the highest mountain in the park. There are also numerous waterfalls and caves here.

Local administration

Thung Song ( เทศบาล เมือง ทุ่งสง ) is a city ( Thesaban Mueang ) in the county, it consists of the entire Tambon Pak Phraek.

There are also four small towns ( Thesaban Tambon ) :

• Thi Wang ( เทศบาล ตำบล ที่ วัง ) consists of the whole tambon Thi Wang.
• Chamai ( เทศบาล ตำบล ชะ มา ย ) consists of the whole tambon chamai.
• Tham Yai ( เทศบาล ตำบล ถ้ำ ใหญ่ ) consists of the whole tambon Tham Yai.
• Kapang ( เทศบาล ตำบล กะ ปาง ) consists of the whole tambon kapang.

There are also eight “tambon administration organizations” (TAO, องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล ) for the tambon in the county that do not belong to any city.
