Alfonsa of the Immaculate Conception
Saint Alfonsa of the Immaculate Conception ( religious name , real name Anna Muttathupadathu or Anna Muttathupandathu ) (born August 19, 1910 in Kudamaloor , Kerala ; † July 28, 1946 in Bharananganam , Kerala) was a Roman Catholic religious sister from India who had worked since 1927 belonged to the Order of the Poor Clares .
She was beatified on February 8, 1986 as the first Indian woman by Pope John Paul II , on October 12, 2008 she was beatified by Pope Benedict XVI. canonized.
