Silver Comet in Fantasy Island ( Grand Island , New York , United States ) was a wooden roller coaster manufactured by Custom Coasters International , which opened on May 1, 1999. In 2019 it was closed along with the rest of the park.
So-called hybrid technology was used in the construction. This means that although the track itself was made of wood, the supports were made of steel. The track was built on the model of the Comet in Crystal Beach , which was closed in 1989 . It can be seen from Interstate 190 , which runs next to the park.
Trains
Silver Comet owned a Philadelphia Toboggan Coasters train with six cars. Four people (two rows of two people) could sit in each car. The passengers had to be at least 1.22 m tall to be allowed to ride.
