The Ozyorsky District ( Russian Озёрский район ) is located in the southeast of the Russian Kaliningrad region in a very underdeveloped and sparsely populated area, right at the EU external borders, to Poland . As part of local self-government, the (administrative-territorial) Rajon consists of an urban district , the administrative seat of which is the small town of Osjorsk (formerly Darkehmen until 1938 , Angerapp 1938–1945 ).

geography

The Angrapa near Osjorsk

The Rajon is crossed from south to north by the river Angrapa (Angerapp) , which crosses a very wooded landscape with stepped pastures.

Local self-government

On the territory of Osjorsk Raion, the local self-government unit of the Osjorsk District (ru. Озёрский городской округ, Osjorski gorodskoi okrug) with the city of Osjorsk and 100 other settlements (ru. Possjolok) has existed since 2014 .

economy

The main livelihood of the population is agriculture .

traffic

rails

Nowadays there is no railway line running through the Rajons area . In addition to individual transport, a large part of passenger transport is handled by local buses .

Streets

The Rajon is also a little off the beaten track. In the far west near Sadowoje the district area touches the regional road 27A-044 (ex A 197 ) from Chernyakhovsk to Krylovo , and from this road the regional road 27A-027 (ex R 508 ) branches off at Kamenka, which goes through the district in a northeastern direction runs through Osjorsk to Gusew . In the capital of the Rajons, it meets the regional road 27A-050 (ex R 517 ) from Chernyakhovsk to the Russian-Polish border near Gołdap .

history

The Rajon was founded on April 7, 1946 as Darkemenski rajon . Its area corresponded roughly to that of the Darkehmen district, which existed until 1945 (1938 to 1945 "Angerapp district"), the southernmost part of which, however, came to Poland after the new border was drawn as a result of the Second World War. From the end of May 1946, the "Administration for civil affairs of the Darkehmen Rajon" (ru. Управление по гражданским делам Даркеменского района, Uprawlenie po graschdanski delamaj Darkehmen) was responsible for the raion.

On September 7, 1946, the city of Darkehmen (1938 to 1945 "Angerapp") was renamed Osjorsk and the Rajon in Osjorski rajon . In the summer of 1947 was to manage the Rajons Executive Committee of the Osjorsker Rajonsowjets of deputies of working people appointed (ru Исполнительный комитет Озёрского районного Совета депутатов трудящихся, Ispolnitelny komitet Osjorskowo rajonowo Soweta Deputatov trudjaschtschichsja; short. Озёрский Райисполком, Osjorski Rajispolkom).

From 1963 to 1965 the Chernyakhovsk Raion was annexed to the Osjorsk Raion during a brief general administrative reform . In 1977 the term “the workers' deputies” was replaced by “the people's deputies” (ru. Народных депутатов, narodnych deputatow). After the collapse of the Soviet Union , in 1992 the district administration was renamed Administration of Osjorsk Rajons (ru. Администрация Озёрского района, Administrazija Osjorskowo rajona).

In 1998, the Osjorsk Raion Municipal Self-Government Unit was established on the territory of Osjorsk Raion . In 2004 this administrative unit got the status of a city district (ru. Озёрский городской округ, Osjorski gorodskoi okrug). However, the district of Osjorsk was rejected by the judiciary. As a result, the administrative unit got the status of a "municipal" Rajon in 2008 and was designated as Municipal Osyorsk Rajon (ru. Озёрский муниципальный район, Osjorski munizipalny rajon); local self-government was expanded to the local level and the six existing village districts were converted into three rural communities. In 2014 the local self-government was reorganized as an urban district.
