Geographical location

Dubrawa is about 16 kilometers south of the city of Gussew ( Gumbinnen ) at the intersection of two side streets, the Walujskoje ( Kuttkuhnen , 1938–1946 Eggenhof ) on the P 508 trunk road with Gawrilowka ( Szardeningken , 1938–1946 Schardingen ) and Olchowatka ( Walterkehmen , 1938– 1946 Großwaltersdorf ) with Jablonowka ( Wilhelmsberg ).

The former railway connection via the Walterkehmen (Großwaltersdorf) station (today Russian: Olchowatka) on the railway line from Gumbinnen (Gussew) via Tollmingkehmen (1938–1946 Tollmingen , Russian: Tschistyje Prudy) to Goldap (today Polish: Gołdap) does not exist more.

history

Buylien was formerly a Prussian state domain with the Vorwerk Alt- and Neu Wusterwitz. In addition, there was the Forst Buylien with the forester's house and the Neuhof Buylien with the dairy. On March 18, 1874, the administrative district Buylien from the rural communities Alt Maygunischken (1938–1946 Erlengrund , Russian: Axjonowo), Didsziddern (1936–1938 Didschiddern , 1938–1946 Frankenhof ), Girnen (Rjasanowka), Jogelehnen (1938–1946 Jürgendorf) , Russian: Dserschinskoje), Jucknischken (1938–1946 Bahnfelde , Stavropolskoje), Karklienen (1938–1946 Brauersdorf ) as well as Neu Maygunischken (Axjonowo, all places no longer exist) and the manor districts Brödlauken Forst, Buylien (1938–1946 Schulzenwalde ) , Ernstberg and Marienhöhe formed.

In 1910 Buylien had 363 inhabitants, in 1933 there were 385 main jobs on the domain. The long-standing tenant family of the state domain was called Hotopp. After the Prussian domain tenant Friedrich Hotopp , the chief bailiff Paul Hotopp followed. In the early 1920s, Dr. Hans Stahl , Erika Hotopp and took over the domain in 1935. Most recently, the domain comprised 950 hectares and was mainly dedicated to breeding Trakehner horses for equestrian sports and the military (Remont breeding). It was the fifth largest horse stud in East Prussia.

On July 16, 1938 Buylien officially received the new name "Schulzenwalde" and as a result the district was renamed. In 1939 there were 383 residents here, about 100 of whom were employed in the domain.

Until 1945 Schulzenwalde and the district of Schulzenwalde with the last still incorporated communities Bahnfelde, Brauersdorf, Erlengrund, Frankenhof, Girnen and Jürgendorf belonged to the district of Gumbinnen in the administrative district of Gumbinnen in the Prussian province of East Prussia .

On October 20, 1944, Schulzenwalde had to flee from the approaching Soviet troops. The trek took the way over the Angerapp bridge near Kissehlen (1938–1946 Angermühle , today Russian: Putjatino) and thus escaped the massacre near Nemmersdorf (Mayakovskoye). The domain was finally given up in January 1945.

In 1947 the place was renamed Dubrawa (Eng. "Oak forest") and at the same time the seat of a village soviet in Gusew Rajon . Later the place came into the village soviet Bagrationowski selski Sowet in Osyorsk district . From 2008 to 2013 Dubrawa belonged to the rural community Gavrilowskoje selskoje posselenije and since then to the urban district of Osjorsk. The manor house served the Russian military until the 1960s and was then demolished after a fire.

After the fall of the 'Iron Curtain' , Wilfried Stahl , son of Dr. Hans Stahl took over the Buylien Dubrava domain in 1992 and, together with his son Jan, started again with the family management of the main farm and the land. Wilfried Stahl died in Dubrava in August 2009 and was buried by his son on the Hotopp family grave island. Since then, Dr. Jan Stahl continues the business in Dubrava, which he was able to buy into property in 2012.

church

Until 1945 Buylien or Schulzenwalde with its predominantly Protestant population was incorporated into the parish of the church Walterkehmen (1938-1946 Großwaltersdorf , Russian: Olchowatka) in the church district Gumbinnen (Gussew) in the church province of East Prussia of the church of the Old Prussian Union . The last German clergyman before 1945 was Pastor Paul Hoffmann .

After 1945 church life came to a standstill. After the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1990/1991, u. a. Russian-German resettlers found a new home in Dubrawa and very soon formed a small Protestant community. Thanks to financial aid from Germany, the German pastor Heye Osterwald, with the organizational and operational help of Wilfried Stahl, managed to buy part of a former insthouse in Dubrawa and to have it restored in order to set up a church and community room.

In 2002 the church hall was inaugurated with the community and the village population. In it, a large wall map reminds of the former parish Walterkehmen (Großwaltersdorf) with all its places, some of which no longer exist today. Dubrawa is now a parish of the parish of the Salzburg Church in Gussew and is looked after by two clergymen. It belongs to the Kaliningrad provost in the Evangelical Lutheran Church of European Russia .

schools

Before 1945 there were two schools in Buylien and Schulzenwalde. The older one was in the Alt Wusterwitz district and was `` one class ''. It already existed in the 19th century. The last German teachers were Robert Ruddies and Herbert Stresow .

The establishment of a second school was decided on February 3, 1899. On January 1, 1900, the newly founded school in Buylien was opened. This was a '' two-class ''. The last German teacher was Fritz Bandelier . In 1992 this former school building was rented and completely renovated by Wilfried Stahl and served him as a residential building from then on. In 2012 this old school building was bought by his son Dr. Jan Stahl will also be converted into property and will continue to be inhabited and expanded through this.
