Bagrationowo ( Russian Багратионово, German Wikischken , 1938–1945 Wiecken ) is a village in the southeast of the Russian Oblast Kaliningrad in Osyorsk Rajon . The place belongs to the municipal self-government unit of the Osjorsk district .

Geographical location

Bagrationowo is four kilometers north of the Russian-Polish border, which also separates the Kaliningrad Oblast and the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship . Three kilometers southeast of Bagrationowo is the Wikowskoje Lake ( Kleschauener See ), in which the Wiek (Russian: Wika) rises, flows southwest of the village and makes its way to Proletarski ( Norgallen , 1938-1946 Wiekmünde ), where it in the Angerapp (Agrapa) flows.

Bagrationowo is located on a side road that begins in the district capital of Osjorsk ( Darkehmen , 1938-1946 Angerapp ) and disappears after about 20 kilometers in the Russian-Polish border area. Until 1945 the German Reichsstraße 137 ran from Groß Skaisgirren (1938–1946 Kreuzingen , Russian: Bolschakowo) via Insterburg (Tschernjachowsk) to Goldap (today Polish: Gołdap) and on to Suwalken (1941–1944 Sudauen , Polish: Suwałki) .

Until 1945 the former Wiecken (until 1938 Wikischken ) was a train station on the Reichsbahn line from Lyck (now Polish: Ełk) via Treuburg (Olecko) and Goldap to Darkehmen (1938–1946 Angerapp , Russian: Osjorsk) and Insterburg .

Place name

The Russian name refers to the Russian general Pyotr Ivanovich Bagration (1765–1812), who came from the royal dynasty of the Georgian Bagratids and who after 1945 also gave the former city of Prussian Eylau its name Bagrationovsk .

history

On May 6, 1874, the village of Wikischken became the seat of the newly established district of Wikischken, which was made up of the rural communities of Astrawischken (1938-1946 Großzedmar , Russian: Serewo), Auxkallen (1938-1946 Roßkamp ), Klein Kolpacken (1938-1946 Kleinbachrode , Russian: Prochladnoje ), Wantischken (1938-1946 Grünsiedel , Russian: Wjoschenskaja) and Wikischken as well as the manor districts Kleszowen (1936-1938 Kleschowen , 1938-1946 Kleschauen , Russian: Kutusowo) -Mühle and Zedmar (Russian: Serewo) was formed.

In 1910 Wikischken had 239 inhabitants, in 1925 there were 251.

On September 30, 1928, the manor district of Kleszowen-Mühle was incorporated into the rural community of Wikischken, and the manor district of Zedmar came to the rural community of Astrawischken, so that the district of Wikischnken consisted only of the communities of Astrawischken, Auxkallen, Klein Kolpacken, Wantischken and Wikischken. Between 1938 and 1945 it was the renamed communities Großzedmar, Grünsiedel, Kleinbachrode, Roßkamp and Wiecken that formed the district of Wiecken, which was also renamed in 1939.

The number of inhabitants of Wikischken was already 287 in 1933, but Wiecken had only 268 inhabitants in 1939.

Until 1945 the village belonged to the district of Darkehmen (from 1938 district of Angerapp ) in the administrative district of Gumbinnen in the Prussian province of East Prussia . The responsible regional court was in Insterburg .

In 1947 Wikischken was renamed Bagrationowo and at the same time the administrative seat of a village soviet in Osyorsk Raion . From 2008 to 2013 the place belonged to the rural community Gavrilowskoje selskoje posselenije and since then to the urban district of Osjorsk.

Bagrationowski selski Sowet / okrug 1947–2008

The village soviet Bagrationovsky selski sovet (ru. Багратионовский сельский Совет) was established in June 1947. Its administrative seat was initially the place Bagrationowo. In 1954 the Tschistopolski selski Sowet was connected to the Bagrationowski selski Sowet. These connected places later ended up in the Lwowski selski Sowet . Before 1968 the administrative headquarters were moved to Ushakovo . After the collapse of the Soviet Union , the administrative unit existed as the village district Bagrationowski selski okrug (ru. Багратионовский сельский округ). In 2008, the remaining places in the village district, with the exception of Ushakowo, which came to the urban municipality of Osjorskoye gorodskoje posselenije , were incorporated into the newly formed rural community Gavrilowskoje selskoje posselenije .
