The urban district Swetly ( Russian Светловский городской округ , Swetlowski gorodskoi okrug) is an urban district in the Russian Oblast Kaliningrad with 27,624 inhabitants (2010). Its administrative seat is the city of Swetly . The urban district is located on the Frischen Haff in the south of Samland . In the west and north it borders on the Zelenogradsk Raion and in the east on the city of Kaliningrad .

history

After the city of Svetly had initially been administered from Kaliningrad , it was given the status of "City of Oblast Importance" on February 1, 1963. The city of Primorsk with the settlements of Beregovoye , Lunino , Popowka ( laying stretchers ) and Upreschnoye (limestone) was also subordinated to the Svetl City Soviet. Since the beginning of the 1970s, the settlements of Vsmorje and Spasskoje (Kaporn) were also administered from Svetly. On June 6, 1991 the village soviet Volotschajewski selski Sowet was spun off from Gurjewsk Rajon and subordinated to the Svetler city soviet.

In 1994 the areas administered by the city of Swetly were combined to form the city district of Swetly. The city of Primorsk and the settlements of Beregovoe and Lunino were, however, incorporated into the urban district of Baltiysk , which was formed in the same year . In 1997 the urban district was characterized as "municipal education" with regard to local self-government. On the basis of a new legal basis in the Russian Federation, the urban district as a municipal self-government unit was again given the status of an urban district in 2004.
