The urban district of Jantarny ( Russian Янтарный городской округ , Jantarny gorodskoi okrug) (German Palmnicken ) is an urban district in the Russian Oblast of Kaliningrad with 6,431 inhabitants (2010). Its administrative seat is the urban settlement of Jantarny .

The urban district is located on the western Baltic coast of the Samland on the Danzig Bay . In the inland it borders in the extreme north on the Svetlogorsk Raion and otherwise on the Zelenogradsk Raion .

history

In 1998, within the (administrative-territorial) urban district of Svetlogorsk (now Svetlogorsk Raion ), the municipal self-government unit settlement Jantarny (ru. Посёлок Янтарный, Possjolok Jantarny) was formed. This was given the status of an urban district in 2004 ( Russian Янтарный городской округ , Jantarny gorodskoi okrug). In 2010 the urban district was also established administratively and territorially.
