history

There was a large Slavic settlement near Gorke. Archaeological finds have revealed five settlements and two ramparts as well as a continuation of the paved road from the Peene bridge over the Slavic-Viking settlement area near Menzlin further south.

Görke was first mentioned in 1172 as Gorike . In 1183 the village was mentioned as Gorka . The place name is derived from the Slavic word "Gora" for "mountain". In 1348 Görke was mentioned with the place names Gorcke and Göricke and from 1697 under the current name. As a monastery village, Görke belonged to the Stolpe Monastery . Around 1534 Görke first came to the Dominalamt Stolpe and later to the Dominalamt Klempenow .

In 1750 there were nine farmers , one pastor farmer and one Büdner in Görke . In 1755 the Vorwerk west of the village was dismantled and nine more farmers were settled in Görke. In 1865 there was a school, a village church , 20 residential and 23 farm buildings in Görke . In total, the place had 205 inhabitants who lived in 36 households. 15 households were farmers, 14 of them landowners and one tenant farmer.

A brick factory was built near the former Vorwerk before 1880 and was in operation until around 1920.

After the Congress of Vienna in 1815 Görke came to the Free State of Prussia , where the place was in the administrative district of Stettin . Görke was an independent municipality until April 1, 1937, when it was first incorporated into Pelsin . On August 1, 1946, Görke became independent again. However, this independence lasted just under four years, then Görke was incorporated into Anklam on July 1, 1950 . On July 1, 1973 Görke was reclassified from Anklam to Postlow .

On July 25, 1952, Görke was assigned to the newly formed Anklam district in the Neubrandenburg district . After reunification , Görke was initially in the district of Anklam, where the village joined the Krien district . After the district reform in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania on June 12, 1994 , Görke was assigned to the newly founded district of East Western Pomerania . On January 1, 2005, the Krien office was dissolved and Görke was transferred to the Anklam-Land office . After the second district reform in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania on September 4, 2011, Görke came to the district of Western Pomerania-Greifswald .
