history

Tramstow was first mentioned in 1305 under the name Trambistowe . The name comes from a Slavic language and probably means " horn blower ". However, the village was settled earlier, which is proven by the Neolithic stone graves near Tramstow . The earlier existence of a Slavic settlement has already been proven archaeologically.

The Tramstow estate was a domain farm that was not classified as a manor , but only as a peasant economy. Tramstow was then divided into an estate and a village. In 1865 the estate had six residential and six farm buildings , an oil mill and a brick oven . The Tramstow part of the village, which belonged to the Klempenow Domain Office , had nine residential and ten farm buildings, the school and a village church, which belonged to Medow as a branch church . A total of 79 people lived in Tramstow (village and estate together). The school building was located halfway on the road to Postlow in order to shorten the way to school for the children of both villages.

In 1835 a brickworks in Tramstow was mentioned, but it had disappeared before 1880.

Tramstow came after the Congress of Vienna in 1815 to the Free State of Prussia , where the place was in the administrative district of Stettin . The place has always belonged to the municipality of Medow before it was reclassified to Postlow on August 1, 1946 . On July 25, 1952 Tramstow was assigned to the newly formed Anklam district in the Neubrandenburg district . After the reunification , Tramstow was initially in the district of Anklam, where the village joined the Krien district . After the district reform in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania on June 12, 1994 Tramstow was assigned to the newly founded district of East Western Pomerania . On January 1, 2005, the Krien office was dissolved and Tramstow was reclassified to the Anklam-Land office . After the second district reform in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania on September 4, 2011, Tramstow came to the district of Western Pomerania-Greifswald .
