Local history

School from 1888

An atonement cross in the immediate vicinity of the village on the Alte Osterzgebirgische Poststrasse commemorates a murder in the 15th century.

The first school was built in 1822. It was supplemented in 1888 by a school with a clock tower and stands behind the war memorial that commemorates those who fell in the First World War . In 1865 Karl Friedrich Gaupe was a teacher in Obercarsdorf. Another modernized school building followed in 1990.

In 1834 a stone signpost was placed in the center of the village on the way to Reichstädt, and another in 1852. In the center of the village there is a quarter milestone on the Obergebirgische Strasse from Dippoldiswalde via Obercarsdorf, Sadisdorf, Rechenberg and Frauenstein to Bohemia. Since October 30, 1884, the Weißeritztalbahn has been running along federal highway 170 , where the train station is located.

In 1845 Carl Friedrich August Dathe von Burgk owned a large sheet metal rolling and iron casting plant on the Weißeritz, which was already mentioned in 1839, and there were three mills along the entire course of the river, the Ober-, Dorf and Niedermühle.
