The history of the Waldhufendorf Ammelsdorf can be traced back to 1349. The manor was at the Frauenstein manor , and in 1445 the administration took care of Frauenstein. Around 1764 Ammelsdorf belonged to the Frauenstein office. From 1875 the village belonged to the Dippoldiswalde district administration . In 1900 the area of the district was 515 hectares . In 1925 the population was divided into 278 Evangelical Lutheran residents and one Catholic . In 1952, Ammelsdorf became part of the Dippoldiswalde district as an independent municipality, which became part of the Weißeritz district in 1994 . In the same year Ammelsdorf, Hennersdorf, Sadisdorf and Obercarsdorf merged to form the new municipality of Obercarsdorf. This was incorporated into Schmiedeberg in 2001. In August 2008, Ammelsdorf became part of the Saxon Switzerland-Eastern Ore Mountains district, which was formed from the Saxon Switzerland district and the Weißeritz district .
