Monument protection area old town Dippoldiswalde
Monument protection area old town Dippoldiswalde (Map) Dippoldiswalde with its closed local structure is a special structure worth protecting. Located on a mountain spur above the Weißeritz , it not only has an impressive, almost round old town, but has also been preserved in its shape since the High Middle Ages, but certainly since the city fires of the early 17th century. A picture from 1656 shows the terrain spur, which is completely built up as it is today. Due to this authenticity, the area, one of two germ cells of the place, has a high visual and urban historical documentation value. 09300002

Detailed memorial texts

  1. a b c d e f g entity with track body (entity parts), technology and all buildings and bridges of the Weißeritztalbahn in the communities of Freital (OT Hainsberg), Rabenau (OT Rabenau, Lübau, Spechtritz, Oelsa), Dippoldiswalde (OT Malter, Dippoldiswalde , Ulberndorf), Schmiedeberg (OT Obercarsdorf, Schmiedeberg, Naundorf) and Altenberg (OT Oberbärenburg, Kurort Kipsdorf) - an important monument of the Saxon transport history, one of the oldest narrow-gauge railways in Germany, of historical, scientific, documentary, landscape design importance and rarity. The 26.3 km long narrow-gauge line (750 mm gauge) was completed in 1880–1882 to Schmiedeberg, and the following year to Kipsdorf. Changes to the route from 1908–1912 due to the construction of the Malter dam, multiple alterations until 1934, the main clients were industrial companies in Dippoldiswalde and the iron foundry in Schmiedeberg, the steepest sections of the Saxon narrow-gauge railways, railway bodies, station design and routing elements determined the technical development of all narrow-gauge railways in Saxony.
  2. The town center with the central rectangular market square, to which a total of eight streets or paths lead vertically from all sides, and with the complex of the church and the castle, which also go back to the Middle Ages, was surrounded by a wall since the 14th century , of which remains to the south have been preserved. Probably the town charter of the place situated on a trade route already existed earlier. Street names such as Schuhgasse testify to the former existence of craft guilds, and the Große Wassergasse, for example, which helps shape the grid-like settlement area to the east up to the former city wall, stands for the open channels that once led mountain water from the tunnels on the Sonnenberg down to the valley. There were businesses that needed a lot of water, such as blacksmiths, breweries and cooperage. The terrain spur drops off steeply to the west. The gardens of the castle, the adjoining modern parks, but also historical orchards form a particularly picturesque situation here. Otherwise, there is a closed development, which is particularly impressive on the market. If you can still find eaves-standing, three-storey buildings with z. Sometimes with steep pitched roofs and Renaissance portals, the houses on the east side lost their ornamental gables after the city fires in 1826 and 1841 and were initially only rebuilt on a single storey. Today they show, as well as the development of the connecting streets, the perforated facades of the 19th century typical for small Saxon towns. The town hall is a valuable building with its mighty Renaissance gable facade that borders the square to the south. The two suburban situations that can still be seen on Obertorplatz and Niedertorplatz are also remarkable. Former town barns, which are evidence of fortified agricultural towns, have z. Some preserved on Planberg and Heideweg.

  10. The building shows the perforated facade typical of small Saxon towns, it was created with the simplified reconstruction after the city fire in 1826, the entrance kinks in its corridor, which probably indicates an older core of the building. In addition to the importance of the building in terms of building history, it is also relevant in terms of urban planning and the history of local development, because it is part of the closed local structure that has existed since the high Middle Ages, in its current form in the 17th century at the latest. Große Wassergasse, one of the streets in the old town leading to the market, helps shape the grid-like settlement area to the east up to the former city wall. The south wing was built in 1569–72, until 1571 under the direction of the elector mason Christoph Tendler, who was subordinate to the elector builder Hans Irmisch. After the fire of 1634, it was slowly rebuilt from 1635 to 1725. Expanded into a three-wing complex by the north wing from 1840. Three-storey building: the elongated west wing bent, short side wings, stair tower in the south-western corner of the courtyard. Entablature of the basement with round arch frieze (cf. Georgenbau des Dresdner Schloss ). Underneath the eaves there is a frieze with a perspective architecture (doors and passages), renewed using the plaster scratch technique. In 1953 the early Renaissance portal was moved from the former Reichelt House on the market to the courtyard on the north wing (currently being restored). Interior largely rebuilt, vaults on the ground floor (Dehio Sachsen I, 1996).
    • Garden terrace: A narrow garden terrace is located in front of the castle in the west, which roughly follows the floor plan of the castle and is supported by high retaining walls made of sandstone masonry in the west, at the NE corner of the castle and at the SW corner of the central risalite there is a solitary tree. Access is from the south halfway up the ramp path west of the battlements. In the southwest of the wall section protruding in front of the central projecting there is a door that leads to the palace garden.
    • Castle garden: The castle garden, extending over the entire length of the castle, is located at the foot of the retaining wall of the garden terrace in the area of the city's former ramparts and was once bounded by walls to the south, west and north, and is now part of the city's ring complex. Only the northern part of the garden and an enclosure wall in the north (sandstone masonry with sandstone cover plates) are preserved. The southern part is largely built over and taken up by an unpaved parking area. Only the southernmost area with remains of the wall, a blood beech and a linden tree is still there. The routing of the northern part is determined by a diagonal crossroads, in the center of which there is a bed area. Axially to this bed, there is another decorative area on slightly higher terrain at the foot of the retaining wall. A straight path runs parallel to the northern enclosure wall, which has a gate in the east. A row of trees (linden, cornel, two beeches and two norway maples) stand between the wall and the path. A solitary tree (oak) stands on the other side of the path at its western end. Groups of conifers frame the palace garden in the south and north. A square with a circular raised bed lies in the area of the northern group of conifers.
    • Ramp path: A ramp path is in front of the high western fortification wall below the battlements. The lower section of the trail climbs from south to north. The direction is changed via a pedestal, so that the upper section continues to rise from north to south. A door in the battlement wall placed on top of the fortification wall opens up the ramp path from above. On the upper platform and the upper section of the ramp path there are sandstone slabs, on the middle platform and the lower section new small stone paving made of gray granite. There are three sandstone steps between the upper end of the ramp path and the platform in front of the door in the defensive wall. The retaining walls holding the ramp path are made of quarry stone masonry (sandstone) and are closed at parapet height with sandstone cover plates.
    • Parapet walkway: The battlement walkway connects to the gate passage at the SW corner of the castle, which connects it with the castle courtyard, and extends above the fortification wall in the SW to a gate to the city. The wooden gate to the city lies in a section of wall that is faced with polygonal masonry facing SE. The plastered parapet wall covered with roof tiles in the SW of the parapet walk has four niches with loopholes and a wooden door to the ramp path. The door has a sandstone frame as a round arch, as well as a step and threshold made of sandstone. A high wall made of quarry stone delimits the battlement in the NE. The path is now paved with small granite paving stones.
    • Embankment: The embankment in the south of the palace complex, approximately at the southern end of the entire area of the garden that extends up to this point, is overgrown with ivy. Remnants of the wall, retaining walls and pathways are recognizable. The woody stock is partly planted.

    • Inside: The tower hall (ground floor) with strong bulbous ribs and corner pillars. Stairs let into the thick walls lead to the upper floors. Under the tower hall the von Maltitzsche crypt, found again in 1964. The nave is a hall of three times three bays on an almost square floor plan. Fluted octagonal pillars carry a star vault without a divider arc with narrow ribbons instead of the original ribs that were cut off in the 17th century. The spatial impression was shaped by the color versions of the 17th and 18th centuries, in particular by the wall and vault paintings by Samuel Heber, the richly painted vault with delicate vegetal ornaments, in contrast the powerful framing of the windows and the upper part of the triumphal arch in Hardware and rolling mechanism. Double wooden galleries on three sides of the nave. The oldest gallery on the north side, 17th century. The upper gallery shows 12 scenes of convalescence in beautifully ornamented panels. 14. a b In 1722, the Electorate of Saxony began setting up the Saxon post-mile pillars. Elector Friedrich August I wanted to build a modern traffic and transport control system in the electorate in order to promote trade and economy. He entrusted Magister Adam Friedrich Zürner (1679–1742) with the implementation. The system of post mile pillars comprised distance pillars, quarter milestones, half and full mile pillars. The distance columns should be set up in the cities in front of the city gates, later only on the marketplaces. Quarter milestones, half and full mile pillars were set up along the Poststrasse. They received a consecutive numbering (row number), starting from the beginning of the measurement. The all-mile columns were set up outside the cities on the post roads at a distance of 1 mile (= 9.062 km). The distance pillars were marked with the monogram "AR" for "Augustus Rex", the Electoral Saxon and Polish-Lithuanian double coat of arms and the Polish royal crown. The full mile, half mile columns and quarter milestones were all similarly labeled, none of them had a coat of arms, but the monogram "AR". The distances were given in hours (1 hour = ½ post mile = 4.531 km). This mile system was the first European traffic management system. The pillar considered here is of great importance in the history of traffic as part of the nationally significant postal system.

The design of the third prize winner, the Lossow and Kühne company , was used for Malter . However, some changes compared to the competition design (bossing, shape of the lower valve housing) suggest that the first prize winner, Hans Poelzig (1869-1936), whose plans were used for the Klingenberg dam, had a certain say. In the German Empire, apart from Klingenberg and Malter , an architecture competition was held for only one other dam, the Möhne reservoir .

  23. Central German stable house with shapes and materials characteristic of the time it was built (with some certainty 2nd half of the 18th century): the three-way division of the ground floor plan into a living part, a hall and a stable / farm part (humans and animals lived under one Roof), typically also the upper floor framework with clay pegs and the roof structure of the rather steep gable roof without extensions. The cellar vaults in the form of quarry stone bins, probably statically independent of the masonry, could be older than the rest of the house and indicate a previous building. The position of the house within the forest hoof corridor typical of the region suggests that the ground has been occupied since the late Middle Ages. A noticeable feature in this basement area is an arched natural stone wall. The relatively strong field stone walls on the ground floor also point to the 18th century, especially since the living area windows have the contemporary basket arched backing with a straight lintel outside. However, the large stable area with its horizontal windows was modernized towards the end of the 19th century by installing a Prussian cap vault. It is remarkable (and already lost in the majority of the residential stable houses) that the stable part can still be clearly recognized from the outside - through the windows mentioned and through its own stable door. A stone built in this area, marked 1700, is probably used a second time and can serve as a "post quem" feature when dating the house. The upper floor is also very authentic, almost everywhere, including the interior walls and under the street-side planking, half-timbering, and the chamber corridor as the longitudinal center axis is still present. The pegged wood connections, also found in the roof truss, and simple corner struts also indicate the date of origin mentioned. Since these shape features can be identified in every area, an expansion of the building in the meantime is also unlikely. The horizontal roof structure, which met the storage needs of the then quite large economy, is still quite homogeneous. There is no central support in the way. The beams are hacked and only sawn in a few places where something had to be replaced, as was customary from the 19th century. Old wood connections also represent the wind panes, which appear as diagonals in the rafter area. If you take the entire house, you can speak of 70 percent or more of the original substance. Also worth mentioning are numerous preserved details such as some classicist apartment doors or troughs in the stable area. Solid ground floor, partly field stone, sandstone window frames, wooden construction largely intact (one enlarged, lying window), boarded gable, old roof structure.
  24. Freehold Oberhäslich
