Malter is a state-approved resort and district of the Saxon large district town Dippoldiswalde in the district of Saxon Switzerland-Eastern Ore Mountains and is known nationwide for the Malter dam .

geography

The elongated village is located about three kilometers north of Dippoldiswalder city center on the right of the Malter dam named after him. North of the village is the Dippoldiswalder Heide . The Weißeritztalbahn runs through the village . Dippoldiswalde, Paulsdorf and Seifersdorf border the place .

history

The first written mention of the place is in 1501 as Meltewr . The Waldhufendorf in the valley of the Rote Weißeritz had belonged to the Dippoldiswalde office as an official village since 1569 at the latest . The responsible church was that of Seifersdorf . In the year there were 17 possessed men and one resident in the place . In 1764, 19 possessed men and 3 gardeners were counted on 4 34 hooves in Malter with 12 bushels each . Malter belonged partly to the possession of the manor Dippoldiswalde as Dippoldiswalder Malter, on the other hand to the possessions of the manor Berreuth as Malter. Accordingly, the districts of Obermalter and Niedermalter existed in 1819 . In 1875 Malter was part of the Dippoldiswalde administration .

As part of the administrative reform in the GDR, Malter became part of the Dippoldiswalde district in 1952 . On January 1, 1974, Malter and Paulsdorf were united to form the municipality of Malter-Paulsdorf , which in 1990 had around 570 inhabitants. On January 1, 1991, the districts were again separated into the communities of Malter and Paulsdorf. In 1996 Paulsdorf and Seifersdorf merged to form the Malter reservoir community, which was incorporated into Dippoldiswalde on January 1, 2003.

The dam

At the location of the flooded Nieder-Malter district and the properties belonging to Seifersdorf and Paulsdorf, the Malter dam , which dams the Rote Weißeritz, has been located since 1913 for flood protection .

The Vorwerk die Malter

In 1569 the Einhufen Vorwerk Malter was first mentioned in the village, under the owner Heinrich von Miltitz , at the upper end of the Bormannsgrund next to the sunny slope. The Gutshufe reached from the Dippoldiswalder Heide to the Weißeritz in what is now the reservoir of the Malter dam, where there was also a castle meadow and a small house belonging to the estate at the junction of the road to Obermalter from the village road in Niedermalter. On the hand drawing of Saxony from the year 1586 it is mentioned as the Vorwerk von Miltitz. The Vorwerk probably went up in flames during the Thirty Years' War by the Swedes and was never rebuilt.
