history
The place was newly laid out in the first half of the 16th century as a scattered settlement on Waldhufenflur . The basic rule was exercised by the manor Schmiedeberg. Dönschten belonged to the Altenberg office in 1570 , from 1696 the Pirna office was responsible for the administration. From 1856 to 1875 Döschten belonged to the Altenberg judicial office and later to the Dippoldiswalde administration . In 1900 the area of the district was 80 hectares . Oscar von Kohorn and the “Freiherr-Kohorn-Stiftung zur Chemnitz Children's Recreation Care” founded the first urban children's recreation home in Dönschten in the 1920s. Thanks to Kohorn's commitment, almost 1,700 boys and girls in need were accommodated in the first five years of its existence. In 1925, the population of Dönschtens was divided into 280 Evangelical Lutheran residents and four Catholics . In 1945 the independent community was incorporated into Schmiedeberg for the first time, but in 1948 the place regained its independence. In 1952 Döschten became part of the Dippoldiswalde district as an independent municipality, which became part of the Weißeritz district in 1994 . In the same year Dönschten was incorporated into Schmiedeberg a second time. In August 2008, the district became part of the Saxon Switzerland-Eastern Ore Mountains district, formed from the Saxon Switzerland district and the Weißeritz district . Since the incorporation of Schmiedeberg into Dippoldiswalde on January 1, 2014, Dönschten has been part of the major district town.
