Falkenhain is a district of the Saxon city Altenberg in the district of Saxon Switzerland-Eastern Ore Mountains .

Falkenhain is located about six kilometers north of Altenberg in the Eastern Ore Mountains . The place is on the state road 182 from Schmiedeberg to Altenberg in a high position on the upper Fallbach.

history
The Waldhufendorf Falkenhain was first mentioned in a document as Valkenhain in 1462 . In 1696 the place belonged to the Pirna Office . The basic rule was in 1551 at the manor Bärenstein , 1696 the manor Schmiedeberg . From 1856 to 1875 Falkenhain belonged to the Altenberg court office , then to the Dippoldiswalde administration . In 1900 the area of the district was 365 hectares . The population was divided into 316 Evangelical Lutheran and 2 Catholics in 1925 . The place was parish after Johnsbach . In 1952, Falkenhain became part of the Dippoldiswalde district as an independent municipality, which became part of the Weißeritz district in 1994 . On January 1, 1999, it was incorporated into Altenberg. In August 2008 Altenberg became part of the Saxon Switzerland-Eastern Ore Mountains district formed from the Saxon Switzerland and Weißeritz districts .
