Bärenhecke is a district of the Saxon town of Glashütte in the Saxon Switzerland-Eastern Ore Mountains district .

Bärenhecke is located about four kilometers south of Glashütte in the Eastern Ore Mountains . The place is located in the Müglitztal .

history
The scattered settlement Bärenhecke was part of Johnsbach and in 1791 belonged to the Pirna office . The basic rule exercised first the manor Bärenstein out, after the manor Schmiedeberg . From 1856 to 1875 Bärenhecke belonged to the Lauenstein court office , then to the Dippoldiswalde administration . The place was parish after Johnsbach. In 1952, Bärenhecke became part of the Dippoldiswalde district , which became part of the Weißeritz district in 1994 . In the same year Johnsbach and its district Bärenhecke were incorporated into Glashütte. In August 2008, Bärenhecke became part of the Saxon Switzerland-Eastern Ore Mountains district formed from the Saxon Switzerland and Weißeritz districts .
Ore mining was carried out in Bärenhecke from the 15th to the 19th century. After the Second World War , the bismuth mined around 44 tons of uranium in the small Bärenhecke deposit until 1954.
During the floods in the Eastern Ore Mountains in 1927 , the bear hedge was badly affected and five people died. The Müglitz flood in 2002 also caused devastating damage to the town.

Economy and Infrastructure
The largest employer in town is the mill and bakery Bärenhecke Raiffeisengenossenschaft eG. The medium-sized company, founded in 1898 as the milling, bakery and warehouse cooperative Bärenhecke eGmbH, sells its products in more than 20 branches, mainly in the district of Saxon Switzerland-Eastern Ore Mountains and Dresden. The old flour mill on the company premises is a technical monument.
Bärenhecke is connected to the rail network with the Bärenhecke-Johnsbach stop on the Müglitztalbahn .
