Alexander Stichart: The landlady's little daughter

Alexander Otto Stichart (born March 11, 1838 in Werdau , † July 2, 1896 in Jöhstadt ) was a German painter and illustrator.

His father was a senior teacher and later a pastor in Jöhstadt and from 1852 in Reinhardtsgrimma near Glashütte in the Eastern Ore Mountains .

Stichart studied at the Dresden Art Academy with Julius Schnorr von Carolsfeld , later in Munich and at the Koninklijke Academie voor Schone Kunsten in Antwerp with Joseph van Lerius . He then worked in Christian Griepenkerl's studio in Vienna .

At the beginning of the 1870s, Stichart returned to Dresden and painted pictures on sacred subjects as a freelance artist, but also on fairy tales.

In the years 1878 to 1879 Stichart undertook a study trip to Italy , where he stayed mostly in Rome .

His works bear the signature "Alex Stichart".
