The original kiln represented a further development in terms of capacity and rationalization compared to the otherwise predominant "Kalkschnellern" in the area - while previously there were only small farms, the capital-intensive industrialization of the lime industry in the region began here; the expansion in 1927 meant a further increase in productivity and effectiveness, with the subsequent installation of the chimney to improve the draft being a characteristic feature; the loading took place via a platform, by cart and inclined elevator (restoration planned). Date of origin around 1873 (Lotze lime works), expanded in 1927 (Paul Uhlig / Paul Friese), in operation until 1964 (Borna lime works); restored 2009–11. 09304237

  6. a b c In 1722, the Electorate of Saxony began to set up the Kursächsische post mile pillars. Elector Friedrich August I wanted to build a modern traffic and transport control system in the electorate in order to promote trade and economy. He entrusted Magister Adam Friedrich Zürner (1679 - 1742) with the implementation. The system of post mile pillars comprised distance pillars, quarter milestones, half and full mile pillars. The distance columns should be set up in the cities in front of the city gates, later only on the marketplaces. Quarter milestones, half and full mile pillars were set up along the Poststrasse. They received a consecutive numbering (row number), starting from the beginning of the measurement. The all-mile columns were set up outside the cities on the post roads at a distance of 1 mile (= 9.062 km). The distance pillars were marked with the monogram "AR" for "Augustus Rex", the Electoral Saxon and Polish-Lithuanian double coat of arms and the Polish royal crown. The full mile, half mile columns and quarter milestones were all similarly labeled, none of them had a coat of arms, but the monogram "AR". The distances were given in hours (1 hour = ½ post mile = 4.531 km). This mile system was the first European traffic management system. As part of the nationally significant postal system, the pillar considered here is of great importance for the history of traffic (LfD / 2013).

  10. Ottendorf Castle Originally built as a moated castle, Ottendorf Castle is one of the most characteristic Renaissance castles south of Dresden , along with the facilities in Dippoldiswalde , Lauenstein , Lungkwitz and Rottwerndorf . The history of the small, picturesque four-wing building probably dates back to the 13th century. Between 1350 and 1405 the Kapler von Sullwitz are proven to be the first owner. The family Kapler of Sullwitz followed over the centuries several aristocratic families with evocative names, like those of Bernstein, of Lindenau , of Bünau from Metzsch and Carlowitz . Coats of arms of the von Bernstein and von Carlowitz families, along with other heraldry, adorn the courtyard side opposite the gate entrance. In its present form, the Ottendorf Castle goes back to the 16th and 17th centuries. There is a break in time between the three horseshoe-shaped Renaissance wings in the west, north and east with volute-adorned gables and dormitories as well as the southern building with a representative gate passage. Apart from the components mentioned, some of the interiors of the Renaissance wings (wall paintings, a painted beam ceiling, window arches on fighters , etc.) also point to a time of origin in the 16th century. Judging by the timber framing on the western front and in the “knight's hall” behind it, its western wing could even have been built before 1500. According to an older source, the castle was rebuilt after a fire in 1486. It is possible that the eastern wing, which appeared relatively independent, was added after 1600. The renaissance buildings were closed by the then owners, the von Bünau, von Metzsch or von Carlowitz families, in the second half of the 17th century with an angular structure ( late renaissance or early baroque ) with a drawbridge , so that a roughly square inner courtyard was created. The stately nine-axis south wing is closed by a hipped roof with bat dormers. The entrance portal is enlivened by two pilasters and a flat triangular gable with an ornamental shell. Behind it there is a groin-vaulted hall with two lateral entrances that are highlighted in design. The interior of the four-wing complex was redesigned in the baroque era. This is evidenced by several stucco ceilings with valleys and simple profiles, the north-eastern staircase made up of massive steps and unconventionally designed railings, as well as various paintings (friezes, marbling, etc.). Of greater importance, however, is the furnishings from the 16th century, such as the wall painting mentioned above. The work, created around 1520, shows two scenes separated by a vertical bar, including a so-called "Unicorn Hunt". In the other illustration, three groups of figures appear in front of a building with ashlar masonry. Death acting in the center could indicate a dance of death. The painted wooden beam ceiling on the upper floor of the south wing is also worth mentioning. It is enlivened by a lush floral ornamentation. The Ottendorfer Schloss is one of the more important cultural monuments in the Saxon Switzerland district. As an originally preserved example of Saxon castle architecture, especially of the Renaissance, it is even of national importance. The four-wing complex, which was mainly built in the 16th and 17th centuries, shows typical features of the Saxon Renaissance such as regular facades with window axes, profiled window frames and volute-adorned gables as well as dwelling houses. Its cultural and historical value is being increased by the loss of Saxon mansions and castles, around 180–200 buildings have been lost since 1945. The interiors from the 16th century are of outstanding art historical importance, especially the high-quality wall paintings from around 1520. Such work is seldom found in secular architecture. From an iconographic point of view, too, it appears singular. Together with the neighboring church, the castle is also important for the appearance of Ottendorf. Both form an unmistakable, identity-creating ensemble (structural center). In addition, there is the unique importance of the entire complex for the history of the place and the region. The castle-like knight's seat of various noble families, which was walled until around 1751, functioned for centuries as a feudal center, to which the neighboring villages of Nentmannsdorf, Dohma, Gersdorf, Göppersdorf and Hartmannsbach were subject to duty and tax. Using the castle as an example, a significant section of the almost thousand-year history of Ottendorf can be illustrated. Added to this is the memory value that the complex has for the history of the families residing here and the associated general socio-historical statements about the lifestyle of the feudal nobility that prevailed at the time. Apart from that, some of the local families have played an important role in the history of Saxony, such as the old and wealthy families of von Bünau and von Lindenau, who were elevated to the status of imperial counts in the course of their history . But the representatives of the von Carlowitz family also held high offices. Among them is a royal. Saxon. Chamberlain and chief raft overseer, a royal. Saxon. Chamberlain, government assessor and canon of Merseburg etc. The importance of the Ottendorfer Castle has entered the consciousness of a wide circle of experts and certainly also larger parts of the population, as shown by the numerous literature (see, among other things, the following list).
