Evangelical city church in Liebstadt. Hall church with flank tower and polygonal choir, richly profiled pointed arched portals with framework. History: A church is mentioned in 1388. The current, elevated building is a hall church, the choir of the same width closes with a 3/8 polygon, on its north side the massive choir flank tower. The nave was perhaps still built in the 15th century, above the inner sacristy door master's mark “hb” and 1499. The choir possibly only from 1511–18, the latter date on the east side of the triumphal arch. The exterior is plain, the nave without buttresses, the richly profiled ogival portals with frameworks. The simple, three-lane tracery windows of the choir are post-Gothic. Inside the choir with star vaults, the ribs with penetrations (like the town church in Dohna , district of Saxon Switzerland-Eastern Ore Mountains ), the keystones from a renovation, marked 1627 and 1628. The flat ceiling of the hall from 1577. Sacristy in the tower basement, vaulted.
Equipment: On the altar panels of a Dutch reredos from the end of the 15th century, the frame from 1673, the sprinkling from 1893. The middle picture shows the Descent from the Cross, the left panel the Carrying of the Cross, the right one the Resurrection of Christ, on the outer sides the captivity of Jesus in grisaille painting and Pilate's hand washing (damaged). - The pulpit made of sandstone, inscribed 1577, on a sandstone pillar with an ornamented mirror. The richly carved sound cover from 1624, with the Man of Sorrows and putti with the tools of the Passion. - Several figural tombs, mostly probably by Pirna sculptors, sandstone. Noteworthy in the choir is the tomb for Rudolf von Bünau († 1615) and for Detlev von Wedelbusch, E. 17th century, in the nave for pastor Johannes Simon († 1618), colored. - In the choir floor, a round bronze plate for Rudolf von Bünau († 1615), attributed to Hans Hilliger , denotes the crypt. - Two elaborately crafted wooden coat of arms epitaphs from the 18th century (Dehio Sachsen I, 1996).
Gravestones:- 1. Neo-Gothic cast-iron tomb of Josephe Maria von Carlowitz (1775–1834),
- 2nd sandstone epitaph on the church wall of Joh.Christian?, With a vase closure, last third of the 18th century,
- 3. Grave plaque on the church wall for Caspar Rep., Organist, inscribed 1606, sandstone,
- 4. Tomb on the church wall for Pastor Gaebler (died 1780) and Ms. Maria Gaebler,
- 5. Grave complex of the Georg Carl von Carlowitz family (1802–1860) and the von Schönberg family with enclosure.

Kuckuckstein Castle, today a museum (Am Schloßberg 1). Picturesque, castle-like palace complex on a mountain southeast of the city. The previous building from the 13th century until it was destroyed in 1402 was owned by the Burgraves of Dohna . Reconstruction begins in the 15th century under Günther and Rudolf von Bünau. Further changes and extensions up to the neo-Gothic remodeling 1796–1802 by the owner Carl Adolf von Carlowitz with the help of the architects Johann Carl Friedrich Dauthe , Carl August Benjamin Siegel and Christian Friedrich Schuricht . 1965–76 extensive restoration of the interior and exterior. The external appearance of the complex is characterized by the numerous conversions and additions that form an attractive ensemble with ornamental gables, blind arches and supporting pillars. The massive donjon rises prominently in the northeast, a residential tower with a semicircular closed floor plan in the east, 15th century, the concluding hipped roof with corner turrets and dormers with stepped gables 1797, the arched curtain windows from 1800. Inside, three barrel-vaulted rooms one above the other, in the third 1st floor of the knight's hall, the barrel cap barrel richly decorated with foliage painting. The equipment with a magnificent fireplace, wall paneling and furniture E. 19th century.
Through a forecourt with farm buildings from the 19th century, you get to the actual castle area through a gatehouse formed as a backdrop with six differently shaped loopholes, built together with the drawbridge in 1797. A simple round arched portal leads to the small courtyard, on the east wall of which there is an arched curtain window, 15th century, on the south side two neo-Gothic pointed arch portals, passage to the large courtyard. The panel house in the south with large arched curtain windows, rebuilt in 1851. The water house in the east with barrel vaults and late Gothic arched curtain windows, which suggest the influence of Arnold von Westfalen , on the west side, marked 1453, the Renaissance gable from 1519–54. On the north side connecting building with battlements, a two-armed staircase in front of the courtyard. The interior with the original layout. Beautiful 19th century tiled stoves have been preserved in numerous rooms. Particularly noteworthy is the Masonic Lodge on the second floor of the panel house, the painting of which was uncovered from 1800 during the restoration in 1966. The stitch cap vault with foliage painting and Masonic star constellations, pseudo-architecture on the walls , the painted views formerly with scenes from the Liebstadt area (Dehio Sachsen I, 1996). In 1800 a masonic lodge was set up in the castle , which was decorated with mysterious, early romantic paintings. -

Evangelical parish church. On a hill, a small hall church with an important cycle of wall paintings, probably built in the 14th century (narrow, lanceolate group of three windows on the east side), renovated several times. In the 18th century a gallery was added, with a door and window leading to it, thereby partially destroying the wall paintings that were only uncovered in 1983–85 and 1992/93. Plastered building with a straight east end, gable roof and roof turrets. Sacristy on the north side, stairs from 1830 on the south side. Inside, coffered ceiling, single-storey galleries in the western part, sacristy barrel-vaulted.
The wall paintings from the middle of the 15th century on the north and south walls, in registers, the individual fields with a red frame. On the north wall in the western part a monumental representation of Christophorus , followed by scenes from the life and passion of Christ. On the south wall continuation of the Passion cycle, large depiction of the crucifixion, next to it the story of St. Georg (scene of the killing of the dragon is missing today). Particularly noteworthy is the very differentiated characterization of the people shown, which was unusual for the time.
Life-size, late Gothic crucifix, around 1500 (restored in 1995, origin unknown). Simple baptism made of sandstone. Jahn organ from 1925 (?), The beautifully carved and colored organ front, E. 18th century. Portrait of pastor Gregorius Eysold, 1726 (Dehio Sachsen I, 1996). Marked several times (on the inner door 1790, front part 1830). -
