Location of Borna in Saxony

Borna is a district of Bahretal in the Saxon Switzerland-Eastern Ore Mountains district .

geography

Borna is located southeast of the Saxon state capital Dresden, roughly in the middle of the municipality of Bahretal, which in turn is in the center of the Saxon Switzerland-Eastern Ore Mountains district. The Waldhufendorf is located on the northern roof of the eastern Ore Mountains in the Elbe valley slate area . The location is on the Bornaer Bach in an orographically left side hollow of the valley of the bier . In addition to the Borna church, the townscape is characterized by the ten partly completely preserved four-sided courtyards and the large open-cast limestone mine immediately north of Borna. Edge areas of the district , including the extreme northwest on the slope to Seidewitz and the south on the Rote Berg, are forested. A large part of the 389 hectares of land is used for agricultural purposes.

Borna has grown together with the neighboring Bahretal district of Gersdorf to a double village , separated only by the bier , which from 1973 to 1994 formed the Borna-Gersdorf community . With Göppersdorf in the south and Friedrichswalde and Nentmannsdorf in the north, further Bahretal districts border. The Herbergen district of Liebstadt is neighboring to the southwest. In the extreme northwest in the Seidewitztal, the Liebstädter districts Großröhrsdorf and Biensdorf border.

The most important road on Bornaer Flur is the federal motorway 17 from Dresden to Prague , which leads past the locality immediately to the west. The next junction is two kilometers north in Friedrichswalde (exit Bahretal). The district road 8755, which opens up the town center, leads from the Bahretal in Gersdorf to the west through Borna, to merge shortly after the bridge over the motorway into the district road 8760, which connects Nentmannsdorf with hostels under the name Hohe Straße. Borna is connected to the regional bus network of the Saxon Switzerland-Eastern Ore Mountains (RVSOE) .
