Flood

The catchment area, which is relatively large in relation to the short run length, means that the water level rises sharply within a short time when there is heavy rainfall. A regional storm on July 5, 1999, which brought almost 150 mm of heavy rain in less than 2 hours , with the center of the greatest precipitation only about 3.5 km 2 , caused devastating damage in the district of Hüttengrund. As a result, large parts of the Reitzenhain – Flöha railway line running there were washed away or torn away.
