Patrick Konchellah
Patrick Konchellah (born April 20, 1968 in Kilgoris , † November 29, 2009 in Bomet ) was a Kenyan middle-distance runner .
He was three times Kenyan champion in the 800 meter run (1994, 1997, 2000). Over this distance he celebrated the most important international success of his career with his victory at the 1994 Commonwealth Games in Victoria. He also finished fourth in the 800 meter run at the World Athletics Championships in Athens in 1997 .
During his career, however, he was always in the shadow of his older brother Billy Konchellah , who became world champion in the 800-meter run in 1987 and 1991.
On the morning of November 29, 2009, Patrick Konchellah died of gastric cancer in a hospital in Bomet . He leaves behind a son, Felix Martine Konchellah , who is active as a middle-distance runner. His nephew Youssef Saad Kamel (Gregory Konchellah) became the 1,500 m world champion in 2009, starting for Bahrain.
