The Wegscheide is a pass in the Odenwald in the Fürth district of the municipality of Fürth in the Bergstrasse district in Hesse .
Geographical location
The Wegscheide is a conveniently located 413 meter high wooded mountain saddle on the western edge of the Buntsandstein-Odenwald in the Fürth Centwald east of the Fürth district of Weschnitz . Here lies the watershed between the Gersprenz in the north and the Mümling in the east, both of which are heading towards the Main . Within each one and a half kilometers of Mümlinggebiets are south along the western edge of the Neckar -oriented valley system of Ulfenbachs and on the southern edge of the Gersprenz area along the west to the Upper Rhine scoring Weschnitzgebiet reach. The districts of Ober-Easter and Erzbach in the Reichelsheim community extend from the north to the ridge of the watershed. Although the area around the Wegscheide mainly belongs to the Fürth district in the Bergstrasse district, the two valley towns of Erzbach and Hiltersklingen at its feet are in the Odenwaldkreis.

The road intersection is a junction in road traffic . Roads from four directions meet here. The main route is the Bundesstrasse 460 , known as Siegfriedstrasse , which , coming from Lorsch and Heppenheim an der Bergstrasse , leads into the Odenwald from the west, crosses the Weschnitz area of the municipality of Fürth and finally reaches the Wegscheide on the north slope of the 521 meter high Kahlberg and continues via Hiltersklingen and Hüttenthal (Mossautal) along the Marbach , also known by the side names Schmerbach or Streitbach , in a south-easterly direction down to the federal highway 45 in the Mümlingtal between Ebersberg and Beerfelden - Hetzbach .
In keeping with the name Wegscheide , there is a road crossing at the height. The state road 3105 crosses the federal highway and connects Reichelsheim (Odenwald) in the north via Grasellenbach with Wald-Michelbach in the south.
Starting at the intersection, the Alte Poststraße leads as a forest path over the Wegscheidekamm to the northeast towards Lärmfeuer ( 502 m above sea level ). The Wegscheidekamm forms a separate sub-unit of the natural spatial structure of the Odenwald, which extends to the Morsberg ( 517 m above sea level ) and the Spreng , another high-traffic pass. The Wegscheide II hiking car park , managed by the Bergstrasse-Odenwald Geo-Nature Park, is at the beginning of the Alte Poststrasse . Starting from this parking lot, Hessen-Forst created a Trees of the Year path in 2012 , an approximately 2.4-kilometer-long forest path through varied mixed forest to the locations of initially 25 different annual trees .
